Truth Hounds to Receive Clooney Foundation for Justice’s Albie Award

Truth Hounds is about to receive the Albie Award of Clooney Foundation for Justice this year in recognition of their work by uncovering international crimes committed within the course of Russian aggression in Ukraine. The Award in nomination for Justice for Survivors will be granted on a ceremony on September 28 in New York.

Since 2014, Truth Hounds have conducted more than 220 field missions in the war zone, recorded more than 5 thousand eyewitness accounts and documented other evidence of international crimes committed as a result of Russian armed aggression. In addition, over 50 investigations were conducted and about 200 suspects of international crimes were identified by Truth Hounds’ team.

The majority of testimonies and the investigations’ takeaways were submitted to Ukrainian and foreign investigative bodies, as well as the International Criminal Court, the European Police Department and UN structures to bring the guilty to justice.

«More than five thousand international crimes survivors entrusted us with the most terrible memories in their lives. They did it because of their belief in justice. For many of them, this is the only faith that has left. Truth Hounds are deeply honored to receive the Albie Award, which indicates that we are on the right track and with reliable allies in seeking justice».

Roman Avramenko
executive director of Truth Hounds

Clooney Foundation for Justice’s mission is waging justice to create a world where human rights are protected and no one is above the law. The foundation operates in over 40 countries, providing free legal support to victims of human rights abuses.

To celebrate the work and achievements of fighters for justice from around the world, in 2022 CFJ established The Albie Awards in honor of South African judge and anti-apartheid activist Albie Sachs. This year, in addition to Truth Hounds, the following nominations will be awarded: doctor and human rights defender Denis Mukwege from Congo, journalists Niloofar Hamedi and Elahe Mohammadi from Iran, as well as non-governmental organizations — «Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression» and «Thai Lawyers for Human Rights».
